How

and why would a website such as this be made, what
resources were used in the making of it and who is that cat?

I built this website using the static site generator Zola. It has support for markdown and theming etc., but I use it mostly just as an HTML templating engine.

A static-ass personal website with a tiny footprint is refreshing to both make and visit in this time when tall web stacks and microservice spaghetti seem to be the default.

Fonts used on this website:
Mahalo, brother! by Chequered Ink
Abordage by Ange Degheest and Eugénie Bidaut

The cat in my avatar is from a painting called Vreemde Inhoud (1909) by Dutch painter Sal Meijer, slightly modified by myself. The identity and story of the pictured cat are unknown.
